i am moving and my dachsund has a skin condition i cant afford to get it treated ani would like to give her to a rescue mission persay so she might get help and find a good home
I need to find a place to place my dog?
Find a NO KILL animal shelter by you. Or the ASPCA, though they aren't no-kill. Most will treat the animal before putting it up for adoption, or let potential owners know of health problems.
Try googling "daschund rescue" to see if there are any in your area
Reply:u could just find a local animal center and ask how they treat their animals
Reply:look up dachsund rescue groups. There's information available on petfinder.com for shelter searches. Or ask a vet in the area if they do work with reputable rescues.
Reply:i cant help u but i no how u feel and worse cuz my dog also had a skin condition and we couldnt aford the meds she would need for the rest of her life and we couldnt find a home for her and my mom didnt no watelse to do so she had her put down and the dog that we had b4 that dog she got ran over by a car at 10 years of age and we had her since i was 1 and a half!!!! im really really sorry i cant help u!! but u could ask friends, family, ur whole neighborhood and ur vets or u could take it to a local animal shelter they find homes for dogs really fast and other animals but it is really hard to give up ur dog to somonelse im sorry and good luck!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:There are many daschund rescues around the country.
I know one in the Arizona New Mexico area if that would help.I am not sure where you are.
Google dachsund rescue and see who is in your area.

Is facial going to help teenagers like me to clear up acne?
im 16 years old and i stopped taking pills because the doctor recommend it for only 6monhts and after taking my pills my skin condition got better but now im starting to have comedones and papules again...pls help!
Is facial going to help teenagers like me to clear up acne?
Try this simple remedy. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the acne like soap. The secret of keeping the skin clear is to keep it oil-free and clean. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.

What should I tell them?
My cousin, Jen and Dave, bit my 2nd cousin, Madelyn, on the face. Madelyn is only two so she really doesn't know how to pet dogs very well. She pats dogs and it's more like hitting them. I think that while Madelyn was petting Phoebe, the dog, hit a sore spot. Phoebe had saved Madelyn from suffocating before. They can't have Phoebe anymore is what Dave says. Jen doesn't really agree with that. Phoebe may have to live with my grandparents who do not live too far from me. Only a block. They are old so they can't handle an American Eskimo Dog really easily. I would have to walk Phoebe everyday. My mom says we can't have Phoebe because of the kind of dog food Phoebe has to have because the dog I already have would eat it also and leave Phoebe with none. Phoebe also has a skin condition and needs special treatment for that. What I'm worried about is what Madelyn will say when Phoebe isn't home with her anymore. They live 3 hours away from me so she wouldn't be able to see Phoebe very often.
What should I tell them?
You may have to just come out and say it. I wouldn't recommend leaving the dog with the grandparents espcally if it has special conditions. Dogs need full attention. The first owners should give it another chance. I understand Madelyn is only 2 and probably doesn't know how to pet dogs, but someone should kind of tell her I know that would be hard but for her sake and another dog's sake she should learn, what if she does that to a aggressive dog. Its very hard for children to let go of pets it happended to me when I was little but she will heal in time. Good Luck!
Reply:My only concern would be Madelyn's reaction to the whole thing. It might be really hard to explain what is going on and she might take it badly. If you do take her, let Madelyn say goodbye, so as to give her some closure on the whole thing. That way, even if she never gets to see Phoebe again, saying 'bye bye' will help her understand that her dog is going away. Jen and Dave might want to get a different dog to help replace Phoebe, like a lab or golden retriever. The larger dogs are much more tolerant of the "love" that toddlers can give. lol
As far as the special food, that's a cinch to fix. You can either let them eat in seperate rooms, or keep an eye on your dog to make sure he doesn't eat her food. Most dogs don't need a constant supply of food anyway, even the little ones, so I'm sure you can find a way around it.
Reply:I'm sorry but I'm really confused. Are you saying your cousin bit Madelyn who I'm guessing is their daughter or that their dog bite their dog. Also I'm rather unclear as to what this has to do with where the dog is placed. Honestly from what you say here I would call both Social Services so that someone is making sure that the child, Madelyn, is safe and being taken care of and the shelter or breed rescue to make sure that the dog, Phoebe, is being taken care of. The fact that the child is being left unattended so that it would have suffocated with only a dog to save her and that the child is being left allow with the dog so that the child can hit the dog to be point that it bites to defend itself clear indicate that both the child and the dog are being neglected.
Reply:Your little cousin is young enough that if they got her a stuffed doggie instead that she would be fine.
Sounds like having her with your grandparents is a good idea. They get a dog that has already shown loyalty to people by saving the baby and you'll get to see your grandparents every day. Since my grandparents are all gone, I think that's great for you.

Do you have hyperhidrosis?
OK heres the thing I have this skin condition called hyperhidrosis. It is where you sweat more than the average person. I have it on my hands, feet, and underarms. I have tried numerous treatments, but they have all failed. Does anyone know of any sucessful treatments that I have not tried yet.
I have tried the following:
~ Antipersperants:
* Secret Clinical Strength deoderant
* B+ Drier
* Certain Drie
* Michim's Deoderant
* Ban Deoderant
* Drysol
* Ban Deoderant
* Arrid Deoderant
* Suave Deoderant
~ Kleinert's underarm shields.
~ Iontophoresis treatments.
P.S: I am very interested in reading Mike Ramsey's book called stop sweating and start living. I anyone has read this book I would really appreciate knowing if it helped you. Also, my parents will not allow me to have any surgeries, such as botox or ETS, because they think it will damadge my nerves, and that I am too young. Thanks to everyone who responds to my very long question I reallly appreciate it. Thanks again!
Do you have hyperhidrosis?
Try plain old Zinc Oxide - you know the white stuff swimmers put on their nose. It's supposed to also be an anti-sweating agent.
Reply:I know you said that your parents wont allow you to do Botox, but I have heard that it does work. As for damaging your nerves, The Botox serum blocks nerve impulses from the nerve within the specific muscle causing the contractions (or in your case, stops the muscle around the sweat glands) to stop. If there was to be nerve damage, it would be localized. other than that, I dont know and I wish you luck.
Reply:Sorry to hear, I know this must drive you crazy..I also have a friend who has this same problem but I didn't actually know it was a skin condition. I just thought it was a normal function of his body..No matter what he does or environment he is in, he is always sweating. He just has to take alot of showers..Anyhow,, I was looking up some stuff found this link about the ETS..

Reply:I too suffer from this, i tryed Maxim that i ordered online and it amazingly worked very well, but when i ran out and ordered more it didn't work as well so i e-mailed the company and they told me that i was building a tollerance to it..what a drag huh..so i just ordered some more and hope it will work for me again..give it a try..www.maximteam.com good luck
Reply:I had severe hyperhidrosis along with neurological symptoms such as arhhythmia, rapid heart rate, migraines and muscle twitching. I went through all the regular treatments including robinul, klonopin, drysol, and botox without luck.
After fifteen years of going to various specialists, I had the ETS surgery done. It went well but after 2-3 years the hyperhidrosis and Raynaud's syndrome (cold limbs) began to return.
In my case these symptoms were caused by allergies to wheat and dairy (Celiac disease) and mercury toxicity. These lead to depletion of certain amino acids and enzymes, and malabsorption of B vitamins and minerals, especially magnesium.
After eliminating grains and dairy from my diet, the symptoms have gone away. I have been taking supplements as well. Sometime in the future I will be having amalgam fillings replaced, including root canals.
If you search, you will find several sources which mention hyperhidrosis as a symptom of mercury poisoning. This can be related to wheat and dairy allergies (gluten and casein) because mercury inhibits DPP-IV, an enzyme needed to digest these foods.

Do you think Psoriasis is an immune system fault?
and will there ever be a cure for this skin condition.
Do you think Psoriasis is an immune system fault?
Hi,
Psoriasis is a skin disorder characterised by red, swollen skin lesions covered with silvery white scales. It is not infectious.
Psoriasis is an inherited disease. However there are certain triggering factors such as injury to the skin, vaccinations and certain medications that have been responsible for the development of this condition. It usually takes about a month for new cells to move from the lower layers of the skin to the surface. In psoriasis, this process takes only a few days, resulting in a build up of dead skin cells and formation of thick scales. Excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, lack of or overexposure to sunlight, stress, cold climate and general poor health result in flaring up of psoriasis.
The main symptoms
Skin patches: dry, red and covered with silvery scales; may crack and become painful; usually found on the elbows, knees, trunk, scalp, hands and nails.
Skin lesions: formation of pustules, cracking of skin and redness.
Itching
Small scaling dots on the skin.
Joint pain and aches.
Additional symptoms that may be associated with the disease are nail abnormalities, lesions on the genitalia, burning, itching and discharge from the eyes.
The different types of psoriasis
Different types of psoriasis exhibit different characteristics that may change over time. One form may change to another, or several forms may exist at the same time.
Plaque psoriasis : This is the most common type of psoriasis. It is characterized by raised, red lesions covered with silvery white scales. The scales are caused by a building up of dead skin cells. It may appear on the knees, elbows, scalp, trunk or any other skin surface.
Guttate psoriasis : It is characterised by small red dots of psoriasis. The lesions may have some scaling. It may appear suddenly following a bacterial or viral infection or the administration of drugs like ketoconazole and salicylic acid.
Inverse psoriasis : This is usually found in the folds of the skin in the armpits, groin or under the breast. It appears as smooth, red lesions without scaling and may cause irritation due to rubbing and sweating.
Pustular psoriasis : It is characterized by blisters filled with pus on the skin. The blisters are not infectious. It may be found on the hands and feet or may be spread all over.
Psoriatic arthritis : About 10% of the patients with psoriasis may develop a form of arthritis called psoriatic arthritis. This may cause redness and swelling, primarily on the hands, feet, knees, hips, elbows and spine. It may cause stiffness, pain and joint damage.
Nail psoriasis : Psoriasis can affect the toes and fingernails causing pits of various size, shape and depth. The nails may turn thick and yellow. They may turn red and crumble easily.
The diagnosis is usually based on the appearance of the skin. A skin biopsy or a culture of skin patches may be needed to confirm psoriasis. A blood test may be done to confirm the presence of antigens that cause the problem.
The Treatment
Treatment focuses on control of symptoms and prevention of secondary infection. Severe cases involving large areas of the body, may require intensive treatment. The disorder may be acutely painful. The body may lose fluids and may become susceptible to infections of the internal organs. The condition may further deteriorate resulting in septic shock and death in some cases.
Treatment includes pain killers, sedatives, intravenous fluids and antibiotics. Medicated shampoos or lotions that contain coal tar, cortisone or other corticosteroids, lubricants, antifungal medications, phenol, antibiotics, sodium chloride and other ingredients may be prescribed.
Other treatments include moderate exposure to sunlight or phototherapy. The skin may be sensitised to light by the application of coal tar ointment or by taking oral psoralens (a medication that causes the skin to become sensitive to light). The person is then exposed to ultraviolet light. Sunburn should be avoided as it can worsen the condition.
Maintaining general good health can help reduce the risk of flareups. Adequate rest and exercise, a well balanced diet and treatment of infections can help in making the treatment effective. It is recommended that general skin hygiene should be maintained by taking daily baths. Oatmeal baths may be soothing and may help to loosen the scales.
Reply:Nobody knows what causes psoriasis: if the cause was known, there would be a cure. Hopefully, there will be a cure that works for all one day.
For now, the best natural remedy for psoriasis on the market is Champori Cream and Spray http://www.champori.com/psoriasis-relief... Give it a try; it helped me.

Is there a fungus among us?
My 12 year old daughter has a consistently dirty neck even though she washes daily. I thought at first she was just being lazy and forgetting to wash her neck, but I've scrubbed it clean one day, and within a day or so, it's back to being spotty and dirty. Could this be a fungus or a skin condition of some sort? and how do I treat it if it is?
Is there a fungus among us?

Reply:Sounds like it. Take her to the doc.
Reply:I got no fungus but I am a Fungi!
Reply:I have this problem and I wash once a month at least
Reply:Sounds like tinea, which is a skin fungus. It's easily curable. Selenium sulfide is the prescription that gets rid of it. So she will have to see the doc.
Reply:Could be a tinea (fungus) Try Selsun Blue shampoo, leave it on 10 minutes and wash off. This may help cure it and it is cheaper than a doctor
Reply:If it is tinea, it is part of the many skin conditions that are caused by the fungus candida. I did not get mine checked out, because the doctor told me my vitiligo was "age spots", so I figured he would call the dark patches on each side of my esophagus the same thing.
I have been on an anti yeast diet since January, and have noticed substantial fading of the patches.
www.hufa.org the yeast link has some basic info. The library link gets you to info about some books that discuss the problem.
Treatment - either a comprehensive diet plan with yogurt, herbs and spices; or anti-fungal medications from the doctor (if he/she believes it exists).

Does anyone know anything about hives?
I have had this skin condition ever since I was 11. I have tried everything. Dermatologists and Allergy experts have still to find what I'm allergic to. Does anyone else have it?
Does anyone know anything about hives?
Hi Caylan
Here is info you requested and how to get rid of them.
Cause
The most common cause of hives is a histamine reaction that is triggered by allergies, especially to certain foods, such as strawberries, fish, shellfish, peanuts, soy, beef, citrus fruits, milk, and eggs. Drugs such as penicillin and exposure to chemicals, including those in common household products such as laundry soap, can also cause hives. To ensure long-term relief from hives, such factors must be screened for and addressed.
--------------------------------------...
Natural Cures
Aromatherapy: Chamomile essential oil applied topically can help relieve symptoms.
Diet: Identify and avoid all foods to which you are allergic or sensitive. To minimize the occurrence of hives, eat a varied diet and avoid eating the same foods more than more than once or twice each week.
Flower Essences: Rescue Remedy Cream® applied topically can also help.
Herbs: Drink parsley or peppermint teas. Peppermint oil taken orally can also help.
Homeopathy: The homeopathic remedies Apis mel., Nat mur., and Urtica Urens. are all useful for treating and preventing hives.
Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment. I suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments.
*Purified water is essential for any hydrotherapy treatment. Remedies for Treating Chlorinated Bath Water, offers clear instructions and recommendations.
Nutritional Supplementation: Hydrochloric acid secretions in the stomach are usually low in people with hives. Vitamin B complex deficiency is also common among hives patients. Therefore, supplementing with betaine hydrochloric acid (HCL) and vitamin B complex is highly recommended. Pancreatic enzymes taken three to four times daily on empty stomach, especially during the initial attack of hives, is also helpful, as are bromelain and vitamin C (also taken away from meals).
During a hives outbreak, take two tablets of bicarbonate soda in water, and sip every 15 minutes until symptoms ease.
To prevent a recurrence of hives, supplement with bioflavonoids and pantothenic acid, vitamin B complex, vitamin B6, and essential fatty acids.
Topical Treatment: To the affected area, apply a mix of calamine lotion with beta carotene liquid, or a vitamin A capsule squeezed together with zinc oxide. If neither of these remedies is available, applying plain unflavored yogurt to the affected area might also help ease symptoms.
Fresh coriander juice applied topically can also help relieve itchiness and inflammation.
Best of health to you
Cheers
Reply:have you tried hydrocortizone cream? It works wonders on just about anything.
Reply:stress causes hives - are there any unresolved issues that you aren't dealing with that are upsetting you? I knew a girl that had them all the time while dealing with her family problems/situation at home.
Reply:that you only get them from picking your ***
Reply:Hives is an exaggerated immune response to a particular allergen. This is typically treated with some sort of corticosteroid. You need to journal your day:
What you ate
What you did
Where you were
What you wore
Then over a period of 3 months, submit this journal to your doctor so that he can then begin to isolate the allergen. A serological test can test for high amounts of allergens in your system too.
Reply:Yes, my sister gets hives, but only when she's nervous, or when she has a very busy schedule. Most people I know that get them just will take a couple Benadryl before they go to bed, and when they get up they are 100% better. Good luck with yours. It's more than likely nothing serious.
Reply:Hey maybe you are not allergic to anything. Hives is your body's response to numerous types of actions within your body. We doctors refer to it as urticaria. Urticara is a condition in which your body is respdnding to a reaction within your body. Not everybody gets hibes from Urticara though. It is usually surrounded by an area of redness called a flare. Hives can vary in size from a few millimeters to giant hives covering a whole extremity. Hives result from dilation of capillaries allowing fluid to leak out into the surrounding tissue of skin. Pressing on a hive causes the skin to blanch distinguishing it from a bruise.
Hives occur in response to a complicated chain of events that leads to the release of a chemical called histamine into the skin. Histamine is located in certain white blood cells called mast cells, which are most abundant in the skin around capillaries. If properly triggered, these mast cells release granules of chemicals, the most powerful of which is histamine. Histamine causes the cells making up the blood vessels to contract allowing fluid to leak out of the blood vessel. Red blood cells are too large to leak out of these "holes". Injecting histamine into the skin causes a triple response of redness, leaking of fluid producing a hive, and the flare or redness around the hive.
But hives can form on your skin from numerous things for example, physical activeness, sex, pressure on your skin causes hives.
You can get hives from suddenly rubbing your skin, after exercising, people whi have anaphylaxis develop hives, you can get hives from a sudden drop of temperater or cold weather, you can get hives from the sun, you can get hives from warmth or heat, but is very rare; you can get hives from water and vibration as well; also very rare.
Im sure you've heard of Clearitin, Allegra D, benedryl, ect. All anti-histamines that can help with these reactions in your body. So you really might not be allergic to anything, just find out what is causing it.
Good luck to you.
