What should i do???

I have a 4 yr old little girl who has psoriasis ( skin condition) severely all over her body. She has just been approved for enbrel which is medicine given in the form of a shot. i need to know when should i give her the shot when shes awake or when shes asleep?? we have given it 2 her twice and both time we have left bruises b/c she jerks and tries to pull away. i dont want to hurt her but she has to have the medicine. any help would be great.

What should i do???
I understand talking to the child - buying them a special toy that also takes shots (a bear - check internet) - helping them understand why the shot is necessary, and that it will hurt but will make them better may help. I would advocate while she is awake, so she does not associate sleep with pain. Also, see if the doctor will prescribe a numbing solution so you can numb the area first.

I understand psoriasis is one of the results of a systemic yeast syndrome. I am fighting the syndrome - but don't have psoriasis that I know of.

This info may help. For basic information on the systemic yeast syndrome, check out the link on the Welcome page of www.hufa.org.
Reply:If you give when she is asleep would ahe wake up at the moment of the shot? Do you think it might give her bad dreams? I don't know what to do for you that is such a hard decision she needs the medicine but you don't want to scare her. Good luck I am sorry I wasn't much help.
Reply:she'll get used to it but make sure you give it to her when she isn't watching! I know this sounds mean but trick her! When she is watching TV then set next to her and grab her arm then do it!
Reply:Ask your Dr. what he/she thinks. My one concern with giving it to her while she's asleep is that she might wake up when you do it and she will be mad and hurt and might be afraid to go to sleep after that. But if she is fighting you too bad while awake this may be your only choice. She might be one of those kids who would sleep right through getting the shot. Good Luck, I hope the shot works for her.
Reply:give her clay, clay with water (you can add some juice in it at first but after you'll explain that it's better to take it without juice!) read, please, about clay:
